What is Sexual Risk Avoidance (SRA)?
SRA is the calculated decision and deliberate, voluntary action to refrain from sexual activity.
SRA is choosing to save all sexual activity for marriage.
SRA includes refraining from:
Vaginal sex
Oral sex
Anal sex
Consequences from oral, anal, and vaginal sex include STIs/STDs, unplanned pregnancies, and emotional pain or trauma. Involvement in sexual activity is also correlated to other risk behaviors, and can negatively impact your ability to reach your short-term and long-term goals. To learn more about these consequences, please check out our sections on emotional side effects and STI/STDs.
